One Direction, us, and the GPS problems

Well, as many of you know I unleashed my inner 13 year old and indulged in a One Direction concert in Chicago with 2 of my college roomies. We all took a half day of work on Friday and had many plans to be big girls at a teenie bopper concert.

We left Cedar Grove and drove to Milwaukee which was a breeze due to all the practice I've had in the city from work. It only took us a few times around the block to find the actual train station, no thanks to my GPS, and a parking spot. We got on the right train, which was also a surprise due to our track record of getting on magic school buses, got to Chicago, and made our way out to the humid, hot, windy city.

Since we knew that it would be hard to get a taxi so close to the train station we decided it would be a good idea to walk even a block in the right direction of our hotel to increase our chances of taxi hailing. Since technology is so great, I fired up the good ol' google maps and we started walking... in all the wrong directions. After we walked half around the block, then back again, we ended up standing on a corner until Sarah could make use of a cool taxi app she had been suggested call Uber, it works really well and I would highly suggest it!

So, the taxi man was nice and with the experience I've had in taxis in Ecuador I trusted no one and made someone have our route in their phone so we would know where we were headed. No worries, made it there in one piece and go to our hotel. Next step, checking in. Here's the kicker, we only told the hotel we had two people staying the night to avoid some $30 charge they had for a third person, which we had. The good news is that they never bothered to count us or anything and we got away with it. Mwahaha

Dinner was order-in Papa John's so we could re-live our college days and also get ready simultaneously to save time. We left for the concert a little late but didn't miss anything expect maybe a few thousand little girl screams. Walking to Soldier Stadium was perfect, saved us time in traffic and saved us money. There were huge groups walking to the same place so we weren't worried about being snatched.

The opening act was 5 Seconds of Summer who played for about an hour and then we were entertained by random music videos until the shut the lights off and brought on the boyzzzzzz.

Since this was my first concert (yes, at the age of 22, my first concert) I wasn't sure what to expect but Sarah and Miranda said that this might have been the best concert they've been to, so needless to say it was GREAT! They played all the right songs in all the right places and all the girls screamed.

Throughout the show we became apparently aware of our age. Sitting down during the songs we didn't know because our backs/feet/body hurt and also sushing the fans because we couldn't hear what the boys were saying in between songs.

The rest of the night went as you would expect, walk home, sleep, wake up, pack. Breakfast excursion was trying to follow GPS directions...again, failing, and giving in to some small store we found. Took a taxi to the train station, got on a train, started to drive home. We yet again trusted our fate to the GPS for food and yet again it failed us. After walking in the pouring rain and getting drenched we went to the ever trustworthy Culvers and drove home.

It was a great weekend but what we've learned was:

1. Don't trust the GPS
2. Just take a taxi
3. We're too old for a 1D concert, but we'll do it again
4. Don't trust the GPS
5. Current boyfriends/fiances will be okay with 5 brother husbands aka: the One Direction members
